On 1-2 November 2018, the Arctic Council will gather in Rovaniemi, Finland for the third Senior Arctic Officials’ meeting held during the Chairmanship of Finland (2017-2019).

On Sunday, October 21 at 11:00-12:00 in the room Silfurberg A, the Northern Forum organized a breakout session as a part of the 2018 Arctic Circle Assembly. Agenda of the breakout session: "The Strategy of the Northern Forum - Strengthening the Voice of Northern Regions Goverments".

From December 5 to 7 2018, St. Petersburg will host the VIII International Forum: “The Arctic: the Present and the Future”, which annually sums up the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, forms relevant areas of interaction between the authorities and society for the development of the polar region. The forum has been held since 2011 and is a public platform for discussing comprehensive and strategic decisions on the socio-economic development of the Arctic zone and the development of practical measures for their implementation.

October 8, the Arctic Biodiversity Congress (CAFF, Arctic Council), held on October 9-12 in Rovaniemi, the Northern Forum organized a meeting of the Working Group on Environment and Biodiversity.

 

The Governor of Lapland Mika Riipi congratulated the participants of the Youth Eco-Forum - 2018 at the plenary session on October 8, 2018.

Within the framework of the international Assembly of the Arctic Circle in Reykjavik (Iceland) on October 19-21, 2018, will be held the Northern Forum framework session - “Strategy of the Northern Forum - strengthening the voice of the northern regions”. The meeting will be held on October 21 from 11.15 to 12.15 in the Silfurberg auditorium, chaired by the Deputy Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Ivan Boltenkov.

On the first official day of the work of “YEF-2018” on October 7, the participants - the youth of the northern regions spent in an interesting busy schedule. On October 6, the guys devoted rest and first meeting with Rovaniemi.

The next meeting of the Northern Forum’s Working Group on Environment and Biodiversity (chaired by Sakhamin Afanasyev, Minister of Ecology, Nature Management and Forestry of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)) will be held on October 8, 2018, in Rovaniemi.

The next IX Youth Ecological Forum (YEF) "The Voice of Youth of Northern Regions for Biodiversity Conservation" will be held in Rovaniemi, from the 6th to 10th of October. Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland situated near the Arctic Circle. The city is the gateway to Finland in the Arctic and a popular northern tourism brand associated with Santa Claus, traditional Saami reindeer herding and a careful attitude to nature.
