For the first time, Magadan hosted a round table titled "PRO MINERAL RESOURCES: Integrating the Resource Base and Economies of the Arctic and Far East Regions," held on the sidelines of the Northern Forum Regional Coordinators Committee meeting.

On May 14, in Magadan, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Northern Forum Regional Coordinators Committee, a strategic session titled "Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor: From the Northern Sea Route to the Arctic-Pacific Partnership of Cities and Regions" was held.

The meeting of the Committee was structured into four parts to facilitate a more detailed discussion on the most pressing issues of the global agenda, as well as the development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic. The discussion focused on infrastructural connectivity, the development of logistics corridors, sustainable nature management, and cooperation among regions of Russia, North America, and Asia.

Representatives from Russia, the United States, Canada, China, and the Republic of Korea were invited as speakers for the foresight session "Pacific Northern Forum: Designing Connectivity and Sustainability." The session was moderated by Vladimir Vasiliev, Executive Director of the Northern Forum.

Irina Onufrenya, Head of the Wildlife Conservation Program at the "Nature and People" Foundation, highlighted the challenges surrounding the coordinated management of domestic reindeer husbandry and wild reindeer populations, as well as the mitigation of damage caused by predators, primarily wolves. While the Foundation carries out an extensive volume of work tracking the migrations of reindeer and wolves across various regions, there is a clear need to unite the efforts of all stakeholders and launch an interregional Northern Forum project.

The Northern Forum is actively developing ties with promising partners from Asian countries. Communication with the Republic of Korea has intensified since late last year, cooperation with China, Mongolia, and India is steadily expanding, and prospects are emerging for establishing active contacts with Indonesia and several other nations.

On May 8, 2026, on the eve of Victory Day, a commemorative event dedicated to the legendary Alaska–Siberia (AlSib) air route (1942–1946) was held in Yakutsk at the Yuri Gagarin Square. The event was organized by the Northern Forum Schools Association and the Chiriayev Yakutsk City National Gymnasium.

On May 7, an online meeting was held bringing together directors, vice-principals, and teachers from the member schools of the Northern Forum Schools Association (NFSA). The participants reviewed the results of the concluding academic year and outlined plans for the upcoming one.
