Last week, Daryana Maximova, Executive Director of the Northern Forum, an international non-governmental organization of the northern regions visited the Center for Arctic Tourism in Naryan-Mar. The goal of the organization is to contribute to the sustainable development of the northern regions and the Arctic zone. The chairman of the Northern Forum at the moment is Alexander Tsybulsky, Governor of Nenets Autonomous Okrug.


Executive Director of the Northern Forum Daryana Maximova visited Naryan-Mar, Nenets Autonomous Okrug from December 10 to 12, 2019. During the working visit, the Executive Director met with the regional coordinator of the Northern Forum from the Nenets Autonomous Okrug Pavel Okladnikov, with the leadership of State professional educational institution of NAO "Nenets Agricultural and Economic College named after V.G. Volkov".


Multimedia press conference with the head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev on the topic: "Strategy for the socio-economic development of the republic until 2032 with a targeted vision until 2050" was held in Moscow on December, 9th 2019.


The II International Forum on Composites “Key Trends in Composites: Science and Technology” was held оn November 20-21, 2019, organized by the Intersectoral Engineering Center “Composites of Russia”, Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman, where a specialist of the Northern Forum, a lecturer at the North-Eastern Federal University, Timofeeva Ekaterina had participated.


The Youth Ecological Forum this year was held from October 7 to 10 in the city of Akureyri (Iceland). This event is a project of the Northern Forum and has been held since 2001. School students from various schools of the member-regions of the organization can take part in it. Pupils from the regions of the Russian Federation: Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansky Autonomous Okrug, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and foreign regions: Japan, Iceland took part in the forum this year.

The IX international forum “The Arctic: Present and Future” begins in St. Petersburg.

Today, December 5, the IX international forum "The Arctic: Present and Future" opens in St. Petersburg. Discussion platforms of a key public event are dedicated to the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and will bring together about 2500 delegates from 40 subjects of Russia, including all the Arctic regions.


From December 3 to 8, 2019, the All-Russian School of Young Leaders of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East “Workshop of the Future - 2019” will be held in St. Petersburg.


On November 26, 2019 at the site of the Project Office for Arctic Development (PORA), a meeting of a discussion club was held on the topic of “Implementation of the latest achievements of chemical science and industry for the innovative development of the Arctic”. The Specialist of the Northern Forum, Ekaterina Timofeeva took part in the meeting with the report “Development of frost-resistant elastomeric materials in NEFU". The meeting was moderated by PORA expert on PPP Alexander Vorotnikov.


An article about the Northern Forum was published by the Russian journal "Transport Strategy. 21st century" dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the Russian Ministry of transport. It tells about the Northern Forum, the Northern Sustainable Development Forum, the Youth Ecological Forum.

On November 28, 2019, the Northern Forum secretariat organized a videoconference which was held on the topic "Prospects for the development of Arctic tourism" with the Northern Forum's regions (Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Akureyri (Iceland), Magadan Region, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)) and  experts from Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lapland (Finland), Arctic Development Project Office, Russia Discovery, Tyumen State University, North-Eastern Federal University.

On November 28, 2019 during the festival Winter begins in Yakutia, in the Government House No. 2 (Assembly Hall) at 17:15, the Northern Forum will host a round table in the form of a video conference on the topic “Prospects for the development of Arctic tourism”, with the participation of international and Russian experts on tourism in extreme climatic conditions.
