The idea of organizing an annual marathon in the coldest place of the inhabited part of the planet came true when the world record holder in extreme marathons, Italian Paolo Venturini ran 39 km at -52 degrees Celsius at the Pole of Cold in February 2019, setting a world record in accordance with all the requirements of the World Athletics.

Our athletes independently organized the run a little earlier than Paolo in January, and started the Pole of Cold Extreme Marathon.

Paolo Venturini, who later became one of the most active and effective Goodwill Ambassadors of the Northern Forum, warmly supported the initiative of the Yakutians.

We hope that in the near future he will also become an Ambassador of the Pole of Cold Marathon.

Paolo is now training, making his record-breaking runs in equipment that also bears the Northern Forum logo, promoting the mission of our organization.
