During the European Polar Boards Spring 2019 Plenary Meeting in Lisbon, elections were held for two Executive Committee positions. The EPB is happy to announce that Halldór Jóhannsson, Member Representative for RANNIS in Iceland and director of the Arctic Portal, and Vito Vitale, Member Representative for CNR in Italy, were both elected, - EPB reports.

In this regard, the Northern Forum Secretariat joins the congratulations of Halldor Johansson, Executive Director of the Arctic portal, the recognized expert on Arctic issues and business partner of the Northern Forum.

 Halldór Jóhannsson is the executive director of the Arctic Portal, the Gateway to Arctic information and data, based in Akureyri, Iceland. Halldór has long and vast Arctic and international experience in cooperation, communication and outreach, policy, planning and data management. The European Polar Board (EPB) is an independent organisation that focuses on major strategic priorities in both the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Current EPB membership includes research institutes, funding agencies, scientific academies, and polar operators from across Europe.

Since 2015, the EPB has been an independent entity, with its Secretariat hosted by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).
