The Evenki national holiday “Bakaldyn” is being held in Yakutsk in the Kenkeme district.
“Bakaldyn” in Evenki translates as a meeting. A meeting of people, families, clan tribes after a long and harsh northern winter.
The guests from Krasnoyarsk region - Arthur Gayulsky, vice-president of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation, chairman of the Union of Evenks of Russia, and Vladimir Khomenko, Evenki singer, winner of international and Russian competitions and festivals - flew in specially for the holiday.
Daryana Maximova, Deputy Executive Director of the Northern Forum, took part in the event.
