Northern Forum Delegation Participates in the First Day of the "Bakaldyn" Program
On June 18th, the Northern Forum delegation began its work as part of the "Bakaldyn" events. The delegation included Olga Viktorovna Sanarova, Director of Special Projects at the Oleg Deripaska "Volnoe Delo" Oleg Deripaska Foundation and Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Russian Partnership for Climate Conservation; Anna Avtandilovna Logua, Manager of the "Volnoe Delo" Foundation; and Erkhaan Valeryevich Nikolaev, Project Manager of the Northern Forum.
On the first day, the delegation members visited the I.I. Pyankov Neryungri Museum of the History of South Yakutia's Development. The museum staff shared insights into the history of South Yakutia's exploration, the development of the Neryungrinsky District, and the establishment of the region's industrial potential. Special attention was given to materials dedicated to the culture and traditions of the indigenous peoples of the North.
Following the museum visit, the delegation arrived in the village of Iengra, where meetings were held with representatives of the Evenk community. During the discussions, the parties addressed matters regarding the preservation of traditional culture, language, customs, and intergenerational continuity. The guests learned about daily life in the village, the activities of local organizations, and initiatives aimed at supporting the Evenk people.
The meetings were held in an open dialogue format, allowing participants to discuss pressing issues of interest to both the local community and organizations working in the field of northern territory development and indigenous peoples' support.
The first day's program focused on exploring the history of South Yakutia and contemporary practices in preserving the cultural heritage of the Evenk people.
