THE 3rd ASRTU FORUM ON ARCTIC RESEARCH
Harbin, July 11–12, 2026
Main Organizers: M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University and Harbin Institute of Technology.
The year 2026 has been declared the "reciprocal" Year of Education in Russia and China. As part of the Year of Education, both countries plan to strengthen academic cooperation, exchange students, faculty, and scientific ideas, develop joint educational programs, and promote intercultural dialogue among youth.
China is an important partner for Russia in the Arctic. Both nations advocate for preserving the Arctic as a region of peace, stability, and constructive cooperation. In this regard, it is crucial to identify the key points of convergence in scientific and technological cooperation between Russia and China in this region. The 3rd ASRTU Forum on Arctic Research aims to host a series of events dedicated to pressing issues in the sustainable development of the Northern and Arctic regions (see Forum Architecture).
In tandem with the Forum, a number of concurrent events are scheduled to take place:
- A meeting of the Russian-Asian Consortium for Arctic Research (RACAR) (initiated by the M.K. Ammosov NEFU with the support of the "Northern Forum" international organization of northern regions);
- The International Summer Arctic School (organized by the Harbin Institute of Technology, commencing July 13, 2026).
The 3rd ASRTU Forum on Arctic Research has been officially included in the Action Plan for the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education.
