Today, 17 February the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) A. Nikolaev held a meeting on the activities of the Northern Forum.
The Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) called the Northern Forum an internationally recognised platform for the exchange of experience and practice in the development of northern regions.
He noted that the Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) plays an important role in this process. Together with the university, the Russian-Asian Consortium for Arctic Research (RACAR) was initiated, which brings together leading scientific and educational organisations from Russia, China, India and Indonesia. It addresses pressing issues of sustainable development in the Arctic, studies the impact of climate change and develops promising economic projects.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) A. Nikolaev for his continued support and for a very informative and productive meeting. We set clear and ambitious tasks to be solved in the near future, taking into account the rapid changes in the world and the need to achieve an economic effect from the activities and projects implemented.
Plans for this year include holding the 6th Northern Sustainable Development Forum in Yakutsk. A country forum is also planned for March in New Delhi, India.
In addition, the 16th General Assembly of the Northern Forum and a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Northern Forum are planned for June in the margins of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Northern Forum has also been invited to participate in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil in November.
