"Today, there is no Institute for Integrated Transport Problems. Rail, river and maritime transport must be considered as complementary elements of a unified logistics system. This approach will improve the efficiency of transportation and optimize cargo delivery routes. The average turnover period for goods can reach 650 days. Ports along the Northern Sea Route in the eastern Arctic sector operate for a limited period — approximately 2 to 2.5 months per year. Due to shallow depths, approach channels stretching tens or even hundreds of kilometres will need to be dredged," noted the advisor to the Rector of the North-Eastern Federal University.
In conclusion, the speaker emphasized the need for a more rigorous scientific approach to the development of Arctic logistics.
