October 7-10, 2019. The Northern Forum is organizing the Youth Eco-Forum (YEF) in Akureyri, Iceland. The YEF will gather youth representatives and educators from the Northern Forum member-regions, such as the Sakha Republic, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Russia), Akureyri (Iceland) and Hokkaido (Japan). The theme of the YEF – 2019 is “Protection of the Arctic water resources”. During the YEF participants will present their reports and projects, and listen to lectures by Arctic Council’s experts.

The Northern Sustainable Development Forum will be launched in the city of Yakutsk, September 24 -28, 2019.

The meetings of the Working Group of the Northern Forum on Environmental Protection and Conservation of Biodiversity will be held on October 8 in Rovaniemi, Finland. On the agenda: consideration of applications in the competition of projects of the Northern Forum on Environmental Protection. Also, discussion of cooperation of regions in the field of conservation of biological diversity and development of specially protected natural areas, where representatives of regions, members of the working group will be the speakers.

The 9th International Youth Eco-Forum is held within the framework of the International Youth Ecological Forum of the International organization "The Northern Forum". The aim is to unite the efforts of young people to preserve the Arctic for the future generations in the interests of sustainable development.

One-day seminar of the working group on protection of the Arctic marine environment (PAME) of the Arctic Council will be held September 29, 2018, Vladivostok, which is chaired by the Senior Fellow of the Institute of the North Jim Gamble, Anchorage, Alaska.

The upcoming Arctic Parliamentary conference in Inari, September 16th to 19th, where major topics to discuss going to be the ways they could support the people of the Arctic and how the negative effects of the climate change could be addressed. The aim is to decide what goals the parliamentarians will set for their work for the upcoming two year period.

In order to strengthen and to expand an interaction between regions to all aspects of social and economic development of the North and the Arctic, to ensure the contribution to global international cooperation, the Northern Forum is commencing the Call for Projects for all its members (see Terms and Conditions here). The Projects must comply with directions of the NF Working Groups, listed below, have a significant socioeconomic effect from their implementation and a stable co-financing.
The NF Resolution #177 “On project activities of the Northern Forum” approved the operational structure of the Northern Forum and established 10 Working Groups:
- Education and Research;
- Culture;
- Business Cooperation in the North;
- Environment and Conservation of Biodiversity;
- Regional Adaptation to Climate Change;
- Development of Energy in the North;
- Assessment of Quality of Life in the Arctic Regions;
- Transportation in the North;
- Health in the North and Social Issues;
- Housing in the Arctic.
