On May 24-25, 2024 in Khanty-Mansiysk for the first time the scientific and practical conference “Youth Arctic: Science for the Future” was held.

 

The event was organized by the Northern Forum, the Russian-Asian Consortium for Arctic Research (RACAR), the Department of Youth Policy, Civic Initiatives and External Relations of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, Yugra State University (YSU) and the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov (NEFU).

 

The event was held within the framework of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra Chairmanship in the Northern Forum and YSU co-chairmanship in RACAR.

 

At the end of the event a resolution was adopted recommending to prepare for the 5th International Polar Year 2032-2033.

 

Russian traveler, polar explorer, state and public figure, Hero of the Russian Federation Mikhail Malakhov took part in the conference program and presented projects related to the North Pole research.

 

Young researchers of the North and the Arctic from 10 regions of Russia (Kamchatka, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk Krai, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Yamalo-Nenets, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra Okrugs, Magadan, Tomsk, Arkhangelsk, Tyumen Oblasts) and 3 foreign universities (Oceanology University of China, Mongolian State University and Jawaharlal Nehru University) took part in the conference.
