The "Project Office for Arctic Development" (PORA) Expert Center was established on December 7, 2017, with the main goal of increasing public knowledge about the unique Arctic. Over the years, PORA has become a leading expert platform, uniting representatives from St. Petersburg and all 10 Russian Arctic regions.
PORA's activities are as multifaceted as the Arctic itself. The Center focuses on the social, economic, and environmental aspects of life in the North, with a special emphasis on the development of the Arctic region and the promotion of the sustainable development agenda. PORA's experts have created a scientific community, helped the last unwritten small indigenous people — the Enets — gain a written language, and carried out a number of significant projects, including the Polar Index, a map of environmental problems, cultural festivals, and the Unified Arctic Subbotnik.
Since its establishment, PORA has implemented 420 projects, providing grants totaling over 30 million rubles. The Center actively collaborates with leading media, regional administrations, universities, and public figures. To widely publicize its work, PORA has created its own media resources, such as the online publication GoArctic.ru and the scientific journal "Arctic 2035."
PORA recognizes its involvement in the sustainable development of the region and is making significant efforts to attract funds from Russian and foreign investors for projects related to the Arctic.
Экспертный центр «Проектный офис развития Арктики» (ЭЦ ПОРА) был создан 7 декабря 2017 года с главной целью — повысить уровень знаний граждан об Арктике. За годы работы ПОРА стала ведущей экспертной площадкой, объединяющей представителей из Санкт-Петербурга и всех 10 арктических регионов России.
Деятельность ПОРА многогранна, как и сама Арктика. Центр фокусируется на социальных, экономических и экологических аспектах жизни на Севере, уделяя особое внимание развитию арктического региона и продвижению повестки устойчивого развития. Эксперты ПОРА создали научное сообщество, помогли последнему бесписьменному народу — энцам — обрести письменность и провели ряд значимых проектов, включая Полярный индекс, карту экологических проблем, фестивали культуры и Единый арктический субботник.
За время работы ПОРА реализовала 420 проектов, выдав гранты на сумму более 30 миллионов рублей. Центр активно взаимодействует со СМИ, администрациями регионов, университетами и общественными деятелями. Для широкого освещения своей деятельности ПОРА создала собственные медиа-ресурсы, такие как онлайн-издание GoArctic.ru и научный журнал «Арктика 2035».
ПОРА осознаёт свою причастность к устойчивому развитию региона и прилагает существенные усилия, чтобы привлечь средства российских и иностранных инвесторов в проекты, связанные с Арктикой.
