On September 1, the president of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Vice Premier of Chinese State Council Zhang Gaoli and  top management of Gazprom state corporation have visited Yakutsk to launch the new gas project “Power of Siberia”. 

This scale project aimed at opening of new markets in the Asia-Pacific region, “Power of Siberia” will be a general gas- transport system to Irkutsk and Yakutsk (Chayanda field) gas production centers and will transport  gas via Khabarovsk  to Vladivostok.

At the first stage there will be main gas pipeline “Yakutia- Khabarovsk- Vladivostok”, which is planned to be operational in 2017. The second stage is connection of Irkutsk gas pipe line center with Yakut center.
The track of “Power of Siberia” will go along the route of existing ESPO pipeline. The pipeline will made of domestically produced pipes. On the construction of the first “Power of Siberia” will be involved approximately 11 700 specialists, moreover this pipeline will be used about by 3000 people.    

Technical characteristics of the pipeline:

The length is about 4,000 km (Yakutia-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok-about 3200 km, Irkutsk Oblast (Irkutsk region)- Yakutia, about 800km)
Pipe diameter 1420 mm;
The working pressure is 9.8 MPa (100 ATM.);
Performance – 61 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
