II International Wooden Sculpture Festival “Legends of the North”

The II International Wooden Sculpture Festival “Legends of the North” will be held in Salekhard, Yamalo-Nenets AO, Russia from August 30 – September 7, 2006.  The Festival is organized by the Department for Culture, Art and Cinematography of Yamalo-Nenets autonmous district, Department for International and Interregional Relations of Yamalo-Nenets autonomous disrict, District Crafts Center and Shemanovsky Museum and Exhibition Center. The Festival is held every two years. It is aimed at promoting monumental art and at stimulating cultural exchange between the countries participating in the Festival.   The Festival is supposed to gather the sculptors from Russia and abroad. As far as the Festival’s themes have northern colour we want to invite to participation the representatives of the northern countries. All the expenses connected with the stay of participants of the Festival in the territory of Russia (local air fare, acommodation, meals) will be covered by the host society. The prospective candidates will need to submit an application form, sculpture sketches and to send a personal photo by e-mail (all the above mentioned papers should be sent to ved@gov.yamal.ru with the note: att Mrs. Belozerova).
