Climate Change/ISCORD (Yakutsk, Russia) - June 1-5, 2010 The Northern Forum organized a workshop on climate change for the Russian regions to coincide with the 9th International Symposium on Cold Region Development (ISCORD 2010). The participants were able to discuss adaptation to climate change as well as visit the ISCORD exhibit and participate in the symposium to learn about new technologies and climate change mitigation strategies.
Arctic Forum (Moscow, Russia) - Sept 22-23, 2010 The Forum, organized by the Russian Geographical Society, was held on the theme "The Arctic - Territory of Dialogue" and was presided over by Russian President D. Medvedev. Speakers included Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, President Grimsson of Iceland, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and participants included prominent specialists of the Arctic. The Northern Forum Executive Director, Priscilla Wohl, was one of the speakers and gave an interview at the conclusion of the Forum.
Arctic Council SDWG meeting (Ilulissat, Greenland) - Oct 2-3, 2010 The Northern Forum actively participates in several projects under the SDWG of the Arctic Council. The NF Program Director, Natalie Novik, attended the October 2010 meeting to update the SDWG on these projects and also to find out what other programs might be of interest to the Northern Forum.
FOGAR (Forum of Global Associations of Regions) September 1-2, 2009 Whitehorse, Yukon (Canada)
1st Summit of Regions on Climate Change Saint-Malo, Brittany (France) October 29-30, 2008 The Northern Forum cooperated with the nrg4SD (Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development), the CPRM (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions) and the Host Region of Brittany in Western France (Région Bretagne) for the 1st World Summit of Regions on Climate Change. The Summit was held in the city of Saint-Malo at the Palais du Grand Large, and concluded with the signing of a joint Declaration.
